How do I listen to The Entrepreneurial MD Podcast?

First things first - What is a Podcast?

A podcast is an audio recording that can be broadcast via an RSS feed on the Internet. It is usually in the form of an MP3 file that you can download and listen to on your MP3 player such as an iPod.

However you don’t have to listen to podcasts only on iPods; you can use your computer with your usual audio player software such as Windows built-in Media Player or iTunes. It really doesn’t matter - as long as you have some way to play music on your computer, you will be able to listen to podcasts.

What Makes Podcasting Different?

You can subscribe to podcasts much like you subscribe to blogs. Instead of you having to hunt for each podcast, once you are subscribed, all future podcasts from that “feed” (such as The Entrepreneurial MD’s feed) will be automatically sent to your feed reading software – most people sign up for podcasts through iTunes (a free downloadable software application from Apple).

To sign up for regular podcast updates:

Open iTunes once you have downloaded the application to your computer.

Go to the iTunes Store and click on “Podcasts”.

On the Podcast page, look for Quick Links on the right and click on “Power Search”.

Enter “Philippa Kennealy” into the Author box or "The Entrepreneurial MD" into the Title box.

Up will pop a little box with “The Entrepreneurial MD Podcast” and a “Subscribe” button

Click the "Subscribe” button, and now it you will automatically receive all future updates of the podcast every time you plug your iPod in. iTunes will download it for you automatically and if you have it synced to your iPod, it will transfer it for you as well.

Remeber, podcasts are FREE!

Still Confused?

Another simple way to listen to each podcast episode is:

In the blog post in which I write about the podcast interview, click on the link that is indicating where you can listen. This link will take you to a page titled “The Entrepreneurial MD Podcast”

Click on the little gray box and round button right next to the title of the podcast, that says "POD". Be patient - it will take a couple of minutes to buffer and begin playing in your audio player.

Alternatively, left click on the link associated with “Direct Download” at the very bottom of the written text. This will take several minutes to load and buffer before it begins to play in your audio player.

If you right click on the link, you will be able to download the audio file to your computer and transfer it to your MP3 player - just click “Save target as”.

For earlier podcasts from prior weeks:

Click on the little gray box and round button right next to the title of the podcast, that says "POD". Be patient - it will take a couple of minutes to buffer and begin playing in your audio player.

or

Left click on the link associated with “Direct Download” at the very bottom of the written text. This will take several minutes to load and buffer before it begins to play in your audio player.

If you right click on the link, you will be able to download the audio file to your computer and transfer it to your MP3 player - just click “Save target as”.

Remember, you can add your Comments, Questions and Observations in one of two places - in the Comment section of the Blog post, OR  the Comment section of the Podcast page (at the bottom right).

I welcome the opportunity to hear from you!
