Presentation Poise: How to overcome your public speaking jitters

Do you shy away from public speaking because the thought makes your heart pound?

And when you have to give a presentation, are you terrified your mind will go blank and you won’t remember what to say?

Public speaking has been ranked the number one fear for most people. And yet, it is also one of the most prized skills for persuasive and effective business owners and leaders.

In our December teleclass, I have the privilege of introducing Janet Esposito, owner of In The SpotLight LLC - a business dedicated to helping professionals overcome their fear of public speaking and thrive as they communicate to get their important messages out. Janet is also the author of In The SpotLight: Overcome Your Fear of Public Speaking and Performing, a book and CD.

This is the first in a two-part series addressing public speaking as a “must-have” skill for business success. This first class is focused on developing the correct mindset for public speaking. The second class that I am planning for January will help us learn how to give a powerful presentation.

Learning objectives

1. Discover how to reduce your avoidance of public speaking, and never miss opportunities again for speaking
2. Manage your physical and emotional symptoms of performance anxiety effectively, so that you feel in control
3. Develop a range of strategies to reduce the stress of public speaking and to make the opportunities more inviting
